Gympie’s heritage Mary Valley Rattler steam train has launched new packages designed specifically for weddings, providing a unique experience that guarantees couples start their new life together on the right track.

The wedding couple can choose their preferred train and carriages, many dating back over 100 years. For a large wedding, the C17 Class Steam Locomotive & Heritage Carriages makes a very impressive statement, ideal for memorable photographs. The Del 1632 Diesel Electric Locomotive and the RM76 Rail Motor are ideal for smaller weddings and other tailored events.

All three trains can cater for wheelchair access, and there’s even a special carriage designed for a couple’s favourite four-legged friends.

All the packages can be individually customised to suit the preferences of the couple, and include a range of options for ceremonies and receptions, with styling, venue decoration, meals and refreshments, and a dedicated wedding coordinator to ensure a memorable day.

The Mary Valley Rattler will take the wedding party through the picturesque Mary Valley to the beautiful rural villages of Amamoor and Dagun, with drinks served onboard the 50 minute journey.

Wedding ceremonies can be arranged at the historic Gympie, Amamoor or Dagun stations, followed by canapes and drinks and photography of the bride and groom to capture the magical occasion.

The wedding couple can spend time having their photographs taken in various locations before returning to Gympie in a chauffeured car, or they can join their guests for the train journey back to Gympie Station.

On arrival back at the station, a range of reception options are available from a casual cocktail function to a sit down dinner featuring the Mary Valley’s legendary produce. Entertainment can be organised, along with all A/V requirements.

Gympie Station is an atmospheric venue for a wedding. Featuring beautiful architecture, complete with stained glass windows, wrought iron finials, and timber construction, it stands proudly as one of the region’s most significant landmarks.

The Mary Valley Rattler is also available for engagement parties, ‘recovery’ functions, bridal showers, high teas, engagement photoshoots and other special occasions.
